I'm presently trying to install a headlight switch on my tractor. I got the red & green wires cut. when I test the switch I blow fuse. I'm on my last fuse, What am I missing ?

I believe you are feeding both battery+ and battery- to the lights, you only feed the lights with battery- (green wire ie earth) from the ignition switch lights get they ac volts from the alternator and not the battery.
Green wire should go onto the (L) on the ignition switch.
And the red wire for lights should come from the alternator AC side.

Thank you... Switch is now operational, with new, side aiming lights as well.
