Today, I decided I'd had enough of the petrol mower, and don't have time to be topping fuel up, and changing oil.

I am a busy person, and when I mow, I don't want to be pulling a starter cord hundreds of times, then having the thing almost break my wrist by kicking it back again.

So, I went back to the store I bought it from in March, and exchanged it for the same value in vouchers for the store.

I used all the vouchers up, and a couple of the things I got was a metal blade for my Flymo/Electrolux Micro Compact 300+, and two spacers, also for the Flymo/Electrolux.

So, I guess it goes without saying I'll be using the Flymo from now on!

I'm not finished with petrol mowers completely though.

One day (probably in about 3-4 years time), I will buy a lawn tractor, with electric start.

I just thought I'd better let you guys know.

I'm curious about the Flymo. It's powered by a corded electric motor -- correct? Could you post a picture?

About the other mower: if you had to labor so much to start it every time, there had to be something wrong. It's too bad we couldn't help you figure that out.

There was something wrong, but I didn't have time to fix it, and had no money to pay for it to be fixed. With an electric, you just hook it up to the electricity and press a button! Easy!

Yep, the Flymo is a corded electric mower, I'll post a picture when I buy a new bolt and get it in action.

Ah, nothing like a mower that works flawlessly!

I mowed my lawns a few hours ago with the 1980's Qualcast Mow 'N' Trim, and it worked great on the high grass!

I had to replace the plastic blade once, but that wasn't because of the grass, it was because my sandal came off and I ran over it, doh!

I've also put some Miracle Gro lawn seed, feed & coir down on the bald patches.

Ah, you mentioned this in my new member thread, so now I've had a look at these at flymo's website. This is the first I've ever heard of hover mowers, are they a lot easier to handle than wheeled pushmowers?

Well, they are easier to maneuver, but personally I prefer wheels!

If you can get hold of a 1970's Flymo with an engine, then go for it! Those engined hovers were great.

You state in this thread several times that you're pinched for time.......doesn't it take time to unroll a cord and roll it back up again? I could see a battery powered model being a time-saver, but I hate flubbing around with cords!

Seems like a gas mower should start up in the time it takes to get the cord ready!
