Peerless 930-011transaxle case is cracked

The transaxle case on my 1993 Murray 14.5hp 42 inch cut riding mower is cracked and leaking grease. I noticed some roaring noise from the tranaxle possibly damaging the bearings. I found a new transaxle for under $400. This is the second time the transaxle case has cracked. Being the mower is 22 years old am I throwing good money away, or junk the mower for a new rider?

Take your time & weigh your options, also are you up to changing out transaxle? On the plus side if you're up to replacement, $400 is much better than several thousand. If engine, electrical, steering parts, deck, tires, etc. are in good shape & transaxle is only problem I would purchase new transaxle.

I am able to change the transaxle myself. The mower still cuts great, and everything else on the mower is in good condition. Thanks for the reply.

How about trying some JB Weld? the hardest part would be cleaning the crack area so as it can adhere. very little cost to try and if it works you may can use it a little while longer, then go "new"

I did think about jb weld, and may try some. You're right cleaning the bentonite grease maybe tough.
