I got this a month or two ago and it runs great but its missing a wheel and airfilter and cover anyone have ideas for cheap parts im 16 and love lawnboys and enjoy small engine work no matter what the brand but I don't know much on history like I see a lot of you guys do
just wondering what part numbers would be and prices of them
I don't think I have a mower junkyard around where I live

I'd say ebay would probably have the cheapest parts or check parts tree or ereplacements.com

You should be able to enter your model number on either of the last two websites to find your part numbers.
 
Also check Craig's list for a cheap parts mower and check your local mower repair shops for a donor mower in their junk pile. And your local salvage yard. Good places for parts for repairs on a budget.
 
Just joined and I see some of you have been onboard for quite a while. It's nice to see so many folks trying to keep the good old stuff running.
My machine is a trash rescue which appears to be in relatively decent shape. I thought the starter pulley was jammed at first. Further inspection - the real problem is the plastic pulley is cracked and the rope sticks preventing one from starting the machine. So, I'm on the hunt for a good starter pulley for a Lawn Boy Model R8241.
Parts houses (and drawings) show it as obsolete and no longer available. I'm looking for help in locating a replacement.

Part # is 611440

Here are a few links that I found. I was surprised to see the new starter assembly was still available at around 120 bucks or so through Toro/Lawnboy, 118 at the old mower parts site. That's crazy money just for a starter. One of the links is for a used assembly that says that it's in great condition, but you never really know with used plastic parts. The bottom link is for a starter pulley part number 611400, don't know for sure, but I think it's a good chance that it will interchange with your pulley 611440.

e- replacements site says that pulley 611400 is compatible with the 85 and 86 model 8241.
