Parking Brake Adjustment

Hello, I'm new to the group. I have a 2014 Cub Cadet RZT-S 46, model 17WRCBDT010. My questions, when I attempt to engage the parking brake in order to get off the mower so that it will remain running, the parking brake will not engage or lock in place. If I remove the foot plate (where my feet rests on the mower) I'm then able to engage the parking brake. I assume there's hopefully an easy adjustment that I can do to resolve this issue and where is this located. Thanks, and appreciate any assistance.
