We've got a 28 Ton Log splitter that just started spewing hydraulic fluid out of the tank yesterday. A customer rented it and when he brought it back he said it had overflowed out from the fill cap. It's happened before when there was too much hydraulic fluid, so I emptied a little more out of it until it was about 3/4 in. from the max level on the dipstick, started it up, threw the splitting wedge into action, and it started spewing out again (probably leaked out about 18 fl. oz.) Any ideas on what might be the problem?
It has a new tank on it so the hoses were disconnected recently. I'm not sure whether it has been rented since then but if it hasn't then I wonder if it wasn't installed correctly?
