Only runs on choke

Hey everyone. I have a Toro Wheelhorse with a Kohler motor. Was given to me by my stepfather last year. Ran great all summer. Put stable in it for the winter and stored in my basement. Took it out this year put fresh gas in it and ran fine. Sat for two weeks and now will only run with choke on. Took carb off and cleaned with no luck. Brought carb to shop and they boiled it and rebuilt it. Still no luck. I then replaced the fuel filter and still no luck. Just took the fuel pump off and saw nothing wrong. I'm lost and don't know what else to look at. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like a dirty main jet to me Do you have the model and spec number?

check the fuel lines sometimes they get soft and cave in when the pump is pulling fuel just a thought or as stated above it could be a clogged jet

The jets were replaced when rebuilt and fuel lines are new. Model number is CV16S and spec number is 61514. That spec number comes up as an 18 horse motor. Don't understand that either. Thanks for the replays.

i had a Briggs last week come in i cleaned the carb and all that stuff turned out the fuel pump was weak sometimes it would start other times it wouldn't i tested it by putting my finger over the hole to see if i could feel it pumping it didn't have very much pressure there at all i put the new one on and i could feel it ...

Thank you. That's kinda what I was thinking but wasn't sure. Guess ill buy a fuel pump and give that a try.

Ok so the fuel pump was not the problem. Gonna pull all the fuel lines and the tank. Flush everything out and try again. If no success then off to the junk yard.

Another thing to watch for is air leaking in between the carb and the engine. You can check for this by starting the engine, and once it is running spray some carb cleaner between the carb and the engine. If you notice a change in the engine speed, that will indicate a bad leaking carb gasket

Huge thanks to Dave. It ended up being the solenoid on the bottom of the carb. Pulled the plunger out of it and she runs like a champ. Thanks everyone for the help.
