So got this mower for free guy said no spark..
Had dirty plug, cleaned and now has spark..
Has compression
Fuel line and tank were full of nasty gas cleaned and replaced that..
Primer bulb is gone as in not there.any.more..
So I taped shut with duct tape to seal that off till new primer bulb part comes in a week.
Now mower fires up.first pull everytime with ether but dies as soon as the spray of ether stops..
So its still not getting fuel..Right??
My question is can I bypass the primer somehow??😂
Real green over here this is my first small engine repair attempt but I want.to learn and the folks on here seem to know their stuff!!
The.mower is from the 80s probably..If that helps with solutions!!

I’m guessing that if the tank and lines were full of crud, so is the carb. I doubt that shutting off the primer is your problem, more likely jets in the carb are blocked. If the engine fails to run properly after replacing the primer you’ll probably have to have the carb properly cleaned and rebuilt. Those old Suzuki engines are true mules and if properly maintained will outlast 99% of the engines out there. I should warn you that you have a 2-cycle engine and using ether to start it will quickly ruin it, as you have no oil in ether to lubricate the internal parts. I would mix up some 50/1 fuel and put some in a small bottle to put in the carb to start.

Thanks for the info,
Going to take the carb off and see what it looks like in there..
