older snapper riding mower, can not engage blade.

I have and older snapper riding mower; all was well when; blade would not engage; I ran over some large pinecones ? belt appears loose but not damage or broken. help

I TOOK OFF THE COVER AND CHECKED FRONT PULLY ; OK THERE. HELP ! THANKS

Make sure the belt hasn't jumped off any of the pulleys and the engagement lever is moving the idler pulley arm into position?

I CAN NOT SEE THE REAR PULLEY VERY WELL OLD AGE HAS SET IN. I BELIEVE THE ENGAGEMENT LEVER DOES APPEAR TO BE WORKING ? THE BELT IS TIGHTENED WHEN I ENGAGE THE LEVER THAT CAUSED THE BLADE TO TURN. OTHER THOUGHTS OR IS THERE A GOOD WAY TO SEE THE REAR PULLEY BETTER ? THANKS

HEY, WHAT ABOUT BLADE BRAKE ADJ OR SNAP-IN BELT SPACER ? I AM NOT SURE OF MODEL NUMBER OF MY SNAPPER BUT, HAS HANDLE BARS FOR STEERING NOT A WHEEL. IF BELT SPACERS ARE NEEDED THE OPERATORS MANUEL STATES 2-8395 ; IF THIS IS MY FIX WILL THESE SPACERS WORK AND WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO ATTEMPT TO FIX ON MY OWN ? THANKS ALOT FOR YOUR TIME AND HELP !

At your own risk, with the mower belt - pulley cover off the deck, can you engage the blade and see if you can tell what is straining it? I suspect a pulley brake or bad bearing.

It may be off of the engine pulley or the pulley may have broken in two.

HAD TO TAKE I TO DEALER; MOVED THE ENTIRE UNIT THAT HOLDS BELT FOWARD; WORKS GREAT NOW. THANKS FOR ALL SUGGESTIONS. IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW I COULD SAVE MONEY SHOULD THIS HAPPEN IN FUTURE; WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT. THANKS
