I bought an older snapper70s rer with an 8hp bs pull start! the motor smokes alittle! I have a 12hp snapper tractor about a 90s it looks bad but still going strong! I only have about 3/4 ac to cut lots of trees also any way Ive busted the plastic hood twice I glued it back both time as a new hood would cost more than the tractor is worth! it also has a bad seat deck is buggered up roots and such! I them both to the near by snapper dealer and he is going to put the 12hp electric start on my 70s rer for $50.00 plus the cost of any parts he has to put on it and he keeps the 8hp motor and the tractor frame! I was wondering if this was a good idea cost wise to do since I dont know what parts he will need to put on I know a battery box push botton starter not sure about the wiring! I bought the rer for $125.00! the tractor its a 1230or something like that I bought it from him used 10 yrs ago for $400.00 so really I dont have anything in it at $40.00 a year! so before parts I have 175.00in the 70s rer and just guessing its gonna be over $100.00 in parts! I will have a 70s RER with a 12hp bs electiric start with at least $275.00 in it! but I think I will be happy with it!
