At my wits end good mower runs good I just can't figure out the battery draw new key switch and resistor not great with colors puts me at a disadvantage it runs good fixed the rich running but turning the key to off will not kill the engine and the wires all look good under cowel to coils and if I unplug the gray I believe wire or the single wire from key switch and just tap the blade you can hear the resistor engage I know my explanation isn't the best but all grounds are good just about ready to put a battery cut off and a kill switch in and call it

First thing that comes to mind, are you sure that your new key switch is identical to the old one? They may look the same, but you must check the tabs on the back are labeled the same. Most people don’t realize that they must check this. If they are the same see if this wiring diagram fits your unit. You didn’t post your model and serial numbers, so I’m guessing what you have. https://www.jackssmallengines.com/j...2-sn-220000001-220999999/electrical-schematic
