Older Briggs runs, quits won't restart.

Hi, newbie here,

Bought a used Ingersoll 111 YT and it was running, but kept stalling out. So I did a carb clean and adjusted it and it was running great for 10-15 minutes then stalled out and wouldn't restart, just a clicking sound and the flywheel "wanting" to turn. I've had this happen twice now. The first time I thought it was the battery, so took it out, charged it and a reinstalled a week later (busy with other stuff) and it started up. This time the battery charge hasn't done the trick. What should I check (and how) in order of most likely culprit? Thanks.

http://www.m-and-d.com/pdfs/Ingersoll/12.1.pdf Remove battery and take to auto parts store & have them load test battery, they will let you know if battery is good or bad. Hands on, inspect wiring harness as well as all switches, relays, fuses, connections tight or loose including ground cables & straps, look for bare wires, burn spots, including ignition switch, unplug one at a time if ok replug, inspect spark plug , air filter, fuel filter for replacement. If battery & everything electrical looks good & checks out ok, purchase an inexpensive multi-meter and troubleshoot electrical & fuel system. If battery is draining, you may possibly have a bad alternator located under flywheel, and or voltage regulator. Post all numbers from engine, example: model xxxxxx, type xxxx, trim or code xx. Adjust valves per engine specs., very important, as well as changing oil & filter.

Also forgot to mention that the battery is brand new. I realize they can be bad off the shelf, but I'm doubtful that was/is the issue. Will look into the other things suggested, "Mechanic Mark" - thank you. Can I do the electrical testing with a multimeter?

On another note I need an air cleaner assembly, (didn't have one when I got it), when I look up my engine model, 3 different assemblies are shown, how do I select the correct one?
