Old mower won't start after storage...

I have a craftsman 917.382760 (that's the number from the owner's manual) push mower that is about 18 years old. It was used for about 4 years, then went into storage in a shed. I'm trying to start it again and have had no luck.:frown:

I dusted it off, put fresh gas into it, checked the oil, but it won't turn over. I pushed the primer bulb and pulled the started many times, but it won't start.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hello ,a good place to start is to to take off the bowl on the carb and clean out any old fuel that has sat in there .Gary

I removed the bowl, there was gas in there. The bowl was green :ashamed: on the bottom with some residue and dirt. What else should I disassemble and clean out?

You will need to disassemble and clean out the entire carb then put it back in and try again.

You should always run the mower out of fuel at the end of the season (start it up and let it run until all the fuel is used and it stalls) to prevent such issues, or you can use a fuel additive.

I completely cleaned the carb with cleaner.

Now I have another problem. I'm not sure where two connecting paper clip like rods go onto the throttle control bracket. My owners manual just shows the parts, and not how they connect...:ashamed:

Anybody have a better diagram, photo, etc. I've been browsing the web but can't find anything like mine...
