OIL IN THE EXHAUST

I have a Troy Bilt 2006 Pony. I have oil in my exhaust causing my mower to smoke when it is running. I've removed the exhaust and it appears to have a some rattling inside. I have two questions. 1. Do I need a new exhaust? 2. If no new exhaust is needed how do I fix the old one and stop the oil from running in the exhaust?

You need to find out if the oil is coming from a damaged cylinder/ring problem, or a blown head gasket.
