I have an 06, 23hpKaw on a RZT cub cadet. I was mowing 4 days ago and all of a sudden the engine revved real high, then started running really erratic. It will run ok it seems, until blades are engaged. then it acts like it wants to die. I pulled the fuel filter and air filter to replace both, and noticed what seemed to be oil in the carb. I replaced both filters and nothing changed. Any Ideas? Thanks.
Sounds like you might have blown a head gasket. Look at the plugs, does one look oily? Also, with the engine running at half throttle, carefully open the dipstick and try to let it rest on the top of the tube. If it bounces around, indicating a lot of pressure, you have a second sign of a blown head gasket.
