Oil Filler Cap Honda GCV - Troy-Bilt

I feel very stupid right now! I just purchased a Troy-Bilt Push mower which is powered by a Honda GCV engine. I set up the mower, but when I went to put oil in it, I CAN'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE OIL FILLER CAP / DIPSTICK. I try to turn counterclockwise as if it is threaded, but it won't move - I feel like I will break it if I force it. Am I missing something here???

No, all Honda oil filler / dipstick caps are standard 'lefty-loosey, righty-tighey' spec. You may want to grip the outside of the filler tube with some soft-jaw pliers to hold it in place while you put a bit more grunt on the cap itself.

The filler tube ("oil filler extension") is also threaded into the oil pan of the engine, but is held in position with a bent-tab lock washer:
