I need to replace the points and condenser in one of my older D engine Lawn Boys. Has anyone here tried the Nova II electronic ignition set-up? Does it work on a Lawn Boy engine and are there problems with ignition timing. Is it reliable?

I haven't tried the Nova II but I'm pretty sure there was a discussion about replacing older LB ignition systems with an electronic unit. It's in an older thread here on LMF but I don't know if it was about the Nova brand.
I have heard that, in outboard motors, the NOVA II modules have been almost uselessly unreliable, if they work at all. There was another kind, The Atom, which was okay; but I understand that it's not made anymore. I bought a couple of NOVA IIs but I have not tried them yet, because of all the bad hype.
As a member of the Antique Outboard Motor Club, I can say that a few members that have tried the Atom modules (Atoms are for twin cylinder motors) give favorable reviews after adding a ground wire from the magneto plate to the block. Something to consider if you try the Nova II's.
