I have run into an issue with my mower and am looking to see if anyone had any ideas. I have a rather old Montgomery Ward riding mower with a 14 HP Briggs and Stratton engine. When I attempt to start it the starter engages the flywheel and stops. I have verified that the motor spins freely by removing the spark plug (to get rid of any compression issues), and even then it does not turn the motor. Here is a Youtube video of exactly what I'm talking about.

Things I have tried:
Checked ground wire, seems to be fine, I even ran a jumper cable wire from ground post on battery direct to motor block.
Battery Charge, I have it on a charger, and have even attempted to jump it with my vehicle
Begging, that also failed to work

Have you tried hooking up the red jumper cable to the positive battery post, the other end to the starter post. Then hooking
the negative cable to the negative battery post, then touching the other negative end to the block{away from the battery and fuel}...

Do that and tell us what you find.

The guy on you tube has a brand new starter, but it may be just a cheap Chinese junker that is his problem, those starters are
junk.

Thanks for the response. Come to find out the gear is the wrong one, causing it to jam. This new starter was a 14 tooth gear, while it needed a 16 tooth. Thanks for the support though!
