Comparison NOMA

I bought a used lawn tractor the other day. It was a noma. Personally I had never heard of this brand but it cranked right up and cut pretty well so I decided to buy (only paid 100$ for it). Well to put a long story short I have only been able to cut my grass once with it and the rest of the time I've had it I have been working on it. As soon as I fix one problem another part breaks. Now I believe the motor is in a bind because the flywheel tries to turn over the motor but the motor won't budge. I'm gonna retire this lawn tractor and try to work on it as a side project. I know, I know, I got what I paid for but this brand just seems like crap! Does anyone else have any experience with a noma lawn mower?

All the ones I have seen look just like any other Murray from the same time frame. So do the snowblowers. The older Murray stuff was pretty decent. One hundred dollors does not buy much.

I have a noma ,on yours do all four or the tires turn when you turn the steering wheel and what brand of engine do you have,and does it have a hydro transmission that is auto? How big of deck does it have, put a picture of it on here. My year is a 1996 and it still runs pretty good i use it to pull the two wheel trailers and equipment around with it. It could be used to mow to but i need a new blade belt for that i trashed it out last fall mowing in the trees in my grove. I have a Kohler 15 hp command engine on mind, and it need a gas line shut off on the gas line or you will end up with gas in your engine oil the carburettor solenoid will not shut off good enough to stop the gas from going into the engine along. But it works well with shut-off. I need a hood for mine i hooked it on a tree one time and broke off the plastic hood for it. Good luck with yours:licking::licking::licking:

Hey thanks for the info. I'm not sure of the year but it does have a kholer engine and had the steering hooked up to the back wheels (we disconnected the back steering to reduce stress on the already stripped out gear)

The mower on my avatar is the noma that I'm talking about. I believe it's a 42in deck but I was only able to run one blade due to the deck being tore and warped on the other pulley that ran the other blade (an unfortunate lawn scalping incident due to the lack of deck rollers on the deck)

Yes i know all about the striped out steering gear i had to rebuild my up to and i think i need to do it again someday soon. Do you have a manual for it, probably not i think you can find one on line for it. On the back axle there is a tag with model number by where you would hook up a trailer to pull.:licking:

i just bought a Noma myself hadnt ever heard of them but i like it so far but i bought it to fix the rear tire and seat switch and resell i also have the 4 wheel steering and like it i dont think ill have it all that long just my 2 cents

Noma was Murray's Canadian devision. If you look at the label you will see made in Canada. It may take you a while but you can get parts by crossing needed parts to a similar Murray product.
