Noise when starting my john deere 345 mower

Sounded like it was coming from the starter - Swapped starter with a good one, no change. Since the starter, I have visually checked the engine cooling fan, removed drive belt from mower deck, and attempted to remove PTO clutch due to a broken mounting washer. No problem getting the bolt out, but the clutch is stuck. Still have the noise only when cranking. Any suggestions for the noise or removing the stuck pto clutch?

Did the clutch seize up?

BBO-Thanks for the reply. The clutch still works fine but it is stuck to the shaft. I'm not sure what type of puller to use without damaging the pto clutch assembly.dwilt0919

Soak the crank shaft with wd40 or aerokroil, use a lot that way it works down the shaft and helps loosen the clutch....then take a hammer and tap on the part of the clutch where the bolt goes into the crank, do this and pull on it as well....but let the lubricant soak for a while....if you can get it to move a little it will work into a lot....takes time
