The 21" Snapper walk-behind with this engine does not start. It was running after Christmas last, less than 90-days ago. It was run until dry.
When I try to start it now with fresh gas, I get no spark as tested with a bulb tester placed between ignition wire and plug. I pulled the ignition coil module and tested it. I also tested for continuity of the shut off wire and to the connector itself. The coil shows 46.9 on the 20k Ohms setting. Normally, I would think this coil to be ok but I have no experience with this electronic coil system. I've read that it cannot be validated using an Ohms test, that very expensive testers are required.
So, here are the questions. Does my Ohms test show the coil is good? How many Ohms should it produce? I can find no specs on the Internet but I have no subscriptions to pro databases. If I have continuity in the shut-off wire to its connector, does that mean the wire is OK? What part number should I use to search for a replacement ignition module, assuming it is bad? I've see prices ranging from $50 to $15 for Briggs and Stratton parts.
Being retired on fixed income, I don't want to waste money needlessly.
Thanks for your attention and any advice you can offer.
