Honda gxv670 on a hustler zero turn. Starts, runs fine, engage blades wants to die. I can increase throttle stays running but when under load it chugs. I've checked air filter, fuel filter, an gas flow to fuel pump, it's fine. Don't know how to check fuel pump. I believe this is a vacuum fuel pump. Can they act this way. The pump is my nxt step when parts house opens tomorrow. My reasoning on why its fuel related is the filter has barely any gas in it when engine is running. Any suggestions wd b appreciated. Matt

Check and make sure both cylinders are firing, pull plug wire on one cylinder at a time and see if you get a change in sound.

If you don't want to pull plug wire by hand get a pair of insulated pliers, I use a pair of channel lock pliers.

To check fuel pump take hose off carburetor and turn engine over with key, you should see good flow out of hose, be sure and use a catch can for gas.

It can be the pump. If the pump has external screws then it can be rebuilt. Very simple deal. Normally the diaphragm inside the pump will either get a small hole or harden from age or chemicals and loose it's capacity to pump at the needed rate. I would just get another pump as cheap as they are. Unless the filter is fairly new I would get one of those too. Keep in mind I have seen several clear filters which look near empty when the engine is running though volume is fine. after reading ur reply I decided to pull the plugs an jst take a look at them. 1 is a little fouled an the other is stone white which leads me to believe motor is starving for gas. tomorrow im gonna try an locate a pump an go ahead replace plugs an filter. wish me luck. thanks for replying matt
