Great forum. I will fill in more at a later date including pictures. I was talking to someone who made a very interesting comment. Did the federal government really ban 2strokes or is this just an excuse to quit making them. Let's face it, the only good thing I can say about Toro is I never owned one. They continued to make 2stroke snowblowers for a few years. Chainsaws and weedwackers continue to be 2strokes. Outboards and snowmobiles are still using them. And KTM is still making 2stroke dirt bikes and Yamaha last fall reintroduced the 2stroke YZ 250. Maybe the Feds did have some influence but sounds like they wanted to cut cost. Buy a company use it or every cent and dump it. Think Toro might have there eyes on Honda:laughing:

I'm not nearly as familiar with the mowers as I am with the chainsaws but there is some, if not all truth in the statement.
The E.P.A. regulations have killed MANY really good chainsaws in the last couple of years, and most have gone to the strato-charged engine design that Poulan has used it their small saws for several years.
Eventually all of the 2 stroke chainsaws will be going to this design and have computer controlled carburetion.
I personally think it is "much ado about nothing" but others disagree.
That's all I have to say about that now.

The FEDS did not ban 2 strokes, but they did make it harder for engine builders to meet air quality standards. That's why they are missing in markets such as lawn mowers and marine outboards. Wil they be gone altogether soon only time will tell.
