I have a 2010 Toro Recycler 7.0 Torque, 190cc, Model 20333, ser no. 310028308. I replaced a broken V-belt and cable brake BBC. The mower ran for 5 minutes then started squelling and the cable v-belt (self propel)started burning. I'm guessing it's the v-belt not the BBC belt. Is there some type of adjustment that I need to do? Does anyone know if the pully on top of the transmission can it be replaced and if this would help?

Replacing the BBC belt is tricking and if not done right you can burn it up in less than five minutes. I would start by checking that belt first. Did you check to see if the BBC idler pulley was free and in good condition. When you tightened the BBC pulley did you make sure that you did so with brake OFF and check afterward the the belt moved freely. Any of these will cause a belt to go bad fast.

thanks in answer to your question I would have to say no to all except the following. I will also cheuse your sugestions.

The question about the belt first, it was a new belt not sure if you mean to recheck to see if its still good?

The second question about the BBC not sure if you mean the cable or something else.

About the belt, I meant that after you tighten the belt pulley did you make sure that the belt moved freely and was not pinched. About the cable or brake, you should have the bail tied back when reassembling, to allow you to check movement easily. You will probably need to get a new belt.

thanks for your reply, i've ordered a new pully. hopefully it will comes in soon so I can try it out. the old pully looked pretty beat up.

Every time that I purchase a new used machine, the first thing that I check is the pulleys. I have bought to mowers in the past two years that the owners didn't want because they "ate" belts. The only problem with them was the pulleys. Spent $40 to get the pulleys and then made sure they were aligned properly. Now the mowers work like they are supposed to. I also never buy OEM parts.

If you never buy OEM pulleys, you are asking for problems. Not all pulleys and belts have the same pitch. Running the wrong two together will burn a belt pretty fast.

been there , done that, all OEM from here on out. Not worth the hassle to do it twice.
