Hello, I tried searching for a place that lists the break down of the serial/model numbers so I could figure out what exactly I have, but no luck so.... can anyone please help?
Serial#-05008651
Model #-30087B
8HP Briggs
Also any ideas on trouble shooting the Reverse not working? All forward gears work fine, runs great, starts easy, and cuts nice and flat. All in all, the best $75 I ever spent!
Thanks in advance

If you think the engine is stock look at the code number. For instance, 851024XXX. 85 is the year, 10 is the month (october), 24 is the day of the month the engine was built. The remaining numbers are plant, line, shift, etc. The year of the mower will be close to that. If I had a pic of the unit I could guess the date fairly close. All forwards and no reverse sounds like the shift lever bracket is out of adjustment. Stand mower on its end, put in 5th gear and observe where the driven disc (thats the little one with the rubber around it) is on the drive disc (thats the big one attached to the bottom of the motor). Now hold the clutch and shift it to reverse, the driven disc should move to the opposite side of the drive disc, i.e. its turning in the opposite direction. Check that and let me know what you find.

Wonderful, I'll check the code and snap a pic for u today. I really have no idea if the motor is original. It doesn't look any newer than the rest of the mower, and all of it is in pretty
Nice shape. Looks to be well taken care of, all plastic is nice, even has all the original wing nuts in place.
