I am working on an older Scag Turf Tiger with a Kawasaki engine. I just replaced the solenoid which was a Denso mounted on the starter. I reinstalled everything and went to connect the battery and I have an arc when attempting to connect the negative battery terminal. Any ideas on what I can have wrong here?

Sorry I don’t have a pic. But there is a green wire that is connected to a Prong on the solenoid. The output terminal on the solenoid is connected to the starter. And the positive battery cable and an additional cable are connected to the other terminal of the solenoid. I can snap a picture tomorrow morning if that doesn’t make sense.

I should also mention that the first time I tried to connect the battery I think I heard the starter try to engage even though the ignition Was off
