If I were buying a new 4 stroke push mower I'd get a Toro. The Lawn Boys made today are just a 'cookie cutter' mower with green paint and a decal. If you're serious about getting a lawn boy, get an old 2 cycle model. Best mowers made.

i almost bought a toro super recycler but then tried out my friends. the sr4 has a killer deck but YOU have to push it up steep hills. that's a deal breaker right there for me.
ive got a 04 silver series 10234 that needs some parts. it has 5-10 yards a year for almost 10 years and the engine is still good I haven't put much into it either. I plan on buying another one in better condition. if I get lucky maybe a 10525. the 10234 there light, decent power, great self propel and last.

wouldnt buy a lawnboy newer than 2004.

I'd buy any two-cycle LB if the price is right but I'd say the best years are about 1982 and earlier.

I think the best mower -- for mowing lawns... not as a collectible -- is an F-series, alloy deck, non-self-propelled and without one of those engine brake levers.
