yt 16

Im likeing what im reading on the forums, hope i can find the help im needing , I recently found a yt 16 on a local yardsale site that read, For sale yt16 ford mower , ran and mowed last year, has a flat, and something is wrong with the steering and brakes, asking $50 , my eye got larger and without hesation i hit the sold button, 1 hr later i was loading it in my truck, it was very clean, and could tell by looking at thengine compartment it ad been very well taken care of. I got it home fixed the flat (just aired it up found no leaks) tires look brand new , then a proceeded to check oil level clean and full, pulled the plugs looking for any recidue signs i cleaned and replaced, pulled the breather and blew it out wasnt bad, next checked the fuel smelled fresh added new to it , checked battery had a brand new interstate fully charged so i pulled the choke half way on the trottle and bam fired right up withou hasition no smoke no knocks so i let it warm up sounded great. couldnt find any thing wrong with the steering, so proceeded to drive and check the gears, thats when i found the problem, clang bang in the rear end, pulled the back plate without a doubt busted case on the transaxle , it either has the chain ball up or a gear had busted, either way im now in the search for a rearend, I have craigslisted, been beating the brush for a 150 mile around me and comeing up with nothing, getting a lot of leads but comeing up empty handed even turned to local ford new holland dealer they say that part is no longer available, but did give me a part number to search the trans is a peerless made by tecumseh , part no, 801-202D my serial no on frame is 9800686 it is not a hydro but is a 5-speed side shift. I will not junk this mower and know in my heart that there has to be one out there either behind a barn or junk yard that i can rescue to keep this thing alive, if any body can give me a lead solveing this problem i would be very greatfull .and so would my YT 16 Thanks

Congrats on the new mower.
Here is something that I found awhile ago to help me with my mower. It lists your transaxle in it.

You might try this place also: http://www.jackssmallengines.com/

All else fails pull the transaxle and then try to find something that fits even if it is not the actual one you want/need.
