Hello I have a craftsman snowblower model 536.819501 and it has a 2 hp 2 cycle Tecumseh engine on it. But the engine needs a new carb the carb is 75 dollors Which is a lot to spend on a old engine that who knows how long it will last anyway. So I got an Idea of getting a new of gently used engine instead. But I don't know what if any engine will work. The things on the new that need to be the same as the old it the mounting holes, the shaft where the pully goes on, the shaft needs to be the same size and lastly the engine needs to be small enougnf to fit and get good clearance with other parts. It can be 2 cycle or 4 cycle the hoursepower can be more but I would like to keep the hoursepower under 5 hp. The electrical. choke cable. primer if it has one and other stuff like that can be different becuse I will wire it up and do the other work. I would apresheate any help

It is going to be very difficult to insert a different engine into your frame. Even if you are lucky to find a used engine, it probably won't be in very good condition. As you said it may not last very long and most parts are no longer available. I would recommend not investing very much into the unit.
