Good day.

We have owned a John Deere model JS35 for several years. As I have become less able to maintain and mow our lawn, my wife has taken over as the captain of our yard:wink:

We purchased this mower from HomeDepot several rears ago. The B&S # on the block is 126T07-0132-B1 (08012357 follow the first group of #'s. though I can not find reference to this group of #'s I felt I should add them)

Unfortunately my wife is not one for maintenance, therefore the engine has seized:ashamed:

During the process of finding a lawnmower repair service, it seems that replacing the engine is less costly then having the engine repaired. We will replace the engine, as this looks rather simple.

I have searched the web for several hours looking for a replacement engine, but can only find replacement parts for this model. There is very little reference material for this engine model.

I have searched the B&S website and seem to have found the same engine series listed here. So to eBay and Amazon I went. Much to my chagrin this isn't as simple as I had thought. On Amazon alone, there are 3 different versions of the same engine:confused2:

So herein lies my dilemma. What block is the easiest swap out for what I now have? What am I looking for?

I use equipatron.com for Briggs engine purchases. They know Briggs stuff very well and are easy to communicate with.
You will need someone to do the engine swap for you.

I've done business with Small Engine Warehouse, Tulsa Engine Warehouse and Equipatron.com, all good folks to do repower engine business with.
From your original post I assumed that you may have some physical limitations and why I made the comment about needing someone to do the engine swap for you.

Thank you for the additional resources. I am very limited, although my wife is an amazing woman that has the patients of a saint. Along with what I can do, she is very eager to get her hands dirty.

Thank you. S.E.W. was very through on finding a new "exact match" engine.

As they were able to locate a new model, I now wonder how much value there is in replacing a new motor on a older mower.

I was quoted $398 shipped. Me being Mr frugal, I needed to do some price checking. I was shocked to find the following on Amazon and as a Prime member, shipping is free:tongue:

Wow - almost $400 for just the engine? I must be out of touch! What kind of condition is the rest of the mower in? For that kind of money, I can find a really nice used Toro, Honda, or even a 14/JX-series Deere on my local Craigslist. Have you checked with your local small equipment dealers to see what they have in their walk-behind inventory in the $400-500 price range? You might be better off just buying another mower.
