Brand new Cub Cadet RZT S50 abruptly stopped while mowing (Just the 3rd use of mower) and now has no forward or reverse. The motor starts and runs fine, the deck operates normally, but absolutely no drive motion. Able to push mower back to garage with disengaged tranny. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

No, the linkage is intact to both left and right side tranny. You can see the linkage rotate the shaft on the side of the trannny

Check the drive pulley, and you say its new take it back to the dealer.

Thanks, EngineMan, it is the drive belt off the pulley. Is there an adjustment on the drive belt to prevent a recurrence? Do I have to take to dealer to replace the belt? Such a royal pain since I bought at Home Depot and they ship it off for repair. Didn't ask that question before I purchased.

You would have thought so, but I can't see any thing in the manual that I have, I have uploaded a photo, sorry its not good but its the only one I have at hand, and it shows what should be there to stop belt coming off.

Did you get the rzt-s operators manual with it ?
Mine shows 2 belt guards in the deck installation section figures 7-11 and 7-12 .
If you don't have the same manual I got you can download one here for your 50" rzt-s.

Cub Cadet RZT S 50 Manual

Hope that helps

Thanks, Phil
My operators manual doesn't have anything regarding the drive belt. It just says take drive belt issues to dealer. You must be referring to the repair manual. Meanwhile, I managed to get the drive belt back on and it's cutting grass again. I'll have to get a repair manual to see how the guards are/should be configured. Obviously mine are not working properly.

Because I don't know , is there more than one belt ( ie. one for the drive train and another for the mower deck )
Here are a couple poor pics from my generic rzt-s manual . Just shows the belt that drives the blades though

Trying to learn here , I have the 42 rtz-s .

Yeah, Phil, we are talking apples and oranges. The RZT S50 has two belts, one for the drive and one for the deck. The figures you show are similar for the deck but not for the drive. The drive belt pulley is above the deck belt pulley on the engine shaft and very difficult to access. The drive belt goes around the engine pulley and each of the two fans/shafts on the two hydrodrives. It appears to me that the bar installed to keep the belt on the engine shaft pulley is too far away from the belt to prevent it from coming off under certain conditions. Wish I had a picture to show but not possible today. Will have to keep an eye on it to see if the problem shows up again. Appreciate you and EngineMan pitching in to help.

When you do have the time, and can get to it, move the bar/rod nearer to the belt, but not touching, that should help/stop it coming off. all the best.

Glad you got it figured out thanks to EngineMan !!!!

I'll edit out the unhelpful pics of the other belt in my other posts. At least now I know what to look for if I ever have the same problem !
