Bought a barely used 1046 the other day with less than 40 hours on it. I'm not sure what type of yard the guy had before (1 acre or so - moved in town to a very small house/yard), but I'm thinking it must have been a rough yard. It appears the blades are a bit chewed up and one is a bit bent. I'm going to be installing a mulching kit, so I'm not worried about the bent blades.
The deck was quite uneven. When I got to looking at it, it was firmly anchored on one side of mower. The support cable was taut and everything seems fine. On the other side, the cable had jumped the pulley. After getting it back on, it was a little more even, but the deck on that side of the mower is not rigid, as is the other side. It essentially hangs a little. It essentially pivots on the solid support on the other side. It seems the support bar has more movement on the loose side. I'm also wondering if the small cable may be stretched.
So in other words, the deck is not level, but it's also not completely stable on one side. Any thoughts on this? Am I on the right track? Any specific things I may need to check?
