new clutch bad?

My Scag Wildcat intermittently shuts down while mowing. It seemed like a fuse issue - replaced it, still stops. Also replaced the clutch recently, so that's new, but now I think the clutch may be bad and causing an overload which shorts out fuse. My question is: what would make a brand-new clutch go bad?

Don't assume it is your clutch.

Check your charging system and voltage.
