I bought this old Yardworks lawn tractor and the model number sticker has come off of the seat bottom. The engine is a Briggs and Stratton Model 407777 Type 0124E1 Code 000913YH 19hp engine. It has a 42 inch deck. Any help in identifying it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Someone has repower the mower with an older engine as According to the following site they didn't start making these until 2006 and the engine is a 2000 model.

Look for a Julian day and year date molded/embossed into the rear tires. Not all tires had that, but many did. Usually, they would show the day like 120, then the year 07. (120 07)

That might give an idea of when it was manufactured. The tires are usually withing a year of build date unless they have been changed.

The label was likely removed to hide that the engine had been changed in the past. People do strange things so they can spin a sales pitch.

In my opinion who really cares, it's not like it will be a collector's item someday. The mower "collectors' market" was pretty weak the last time I checked.

It looks like a typical MTD rider that is painted a different color.

The issue of the correct model number of the mower will come up when parts are needed for repair in the future. Need correct model number to get correct parts.

Definitely. This why every of equipment gets the model and serial along with engine model, spec, and datecode /serial recorded here. I might work on an unit one year and then a year or two later the machine comes back in them missing. Things like different rocker covers and shrouds don't help either.

A little help is the pictures as they show the dash with none EMC keyswitch with an hour meter and that it is an Auto drive model. None the IPLs I looked at has this setup. Someone that works on a lot Yardworks may recognize right off.

When all the vital information is missing, all we have left are little clues to eventually figure out some of the puzzle shown. Maybe we can come close to some of the models sold here in the US that are identical. Bolens and Huskee riders have a lot of the same features. MTD is a worldwide distributor

So, what can we tell from the pictures?

The engine is not original and this likely had a single cylinder because it is a 42" cut. (Not an important factor currently)
It has a basic forward & reverse (fender) shift manual transmission with a speed control foot pedal and separate brake pedal.
Manual lever deck PTO belt engagement
Square dash mounted compact digital Hour meter with warning lights.
Battery at rear under the seat.
Fuel tank under the hood.
3-piece steel hood and side panels with flip forward top section.
The deck and platform look to be a dark forest green color. (Similar to Bolens and Yardman models)

There are quite a number of models to look through in the link that StarTech provided, so start at the first set of pictures and study the diagrams until you come up with a couple of possibilities. This will be a "process of elimination" exercise. The square digital hour meter will be a key component to find in the diagrams.

I'm sure you will find a model number that fits all of the criteria that you can confidently order parts with.
