The shaft broke on this carb and the butterfly dislodged. The number in the air box is 610385, any suggestions? It’s my buddies mower so I don’t know much more about it.

I think this is the model #6257

I haven’t seen it personally, I got it second hand from my buddy the owner. .

This is a 1978 Lawn-Boy with the F200 engine. It's a plastic carburetor, right? Or is it a commercial mower?

It’s a beige plastic carb

Original part number was 681729, but was superseded to 682568. Neither one is available any more, so you will have two choices. Try to find one on the Internet or see if your local repair shops have a scrap unit around which you can rib one off. They are out there minimal search time.

My dad used to repair lawnboy mowers and he has some used ones in his garage, unfortunately he passed in April and he would have known. How can I identify the correct one? I’m assuming that number in the air box is just the air box number?

So far finding used hasn’t yielded anything.

Your best bet when scavenging parts off older units is to take the model and serial numbers off the dead unit and then finding out which carb they used on it. You can easily do this using the Lawn Bay parts site.

Let me ask this…. The problem with the existing carb is the plastic shaft that holds the throttle butterfly broke and the brass butterfly fell out. I wonder if I could find that shaft and repair the existing carb on the shaft from a different carb would fit?
