I just finished my 4th mow with the new mower and I am very impressed. The power and cut is great. My only issue was it needed a little hydro fluid. The mower seems to be a great piece of engineering and I actually look forward to mowing

CJ,

Congrats.

I'm certainly no pro on hydro's.

Just my experience...I have seen mine low at times, then get back to normal after a long mow.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you need to add to it again and I would "think" that if you do you could see the leak.

Stay safe,

Mike

It's not unusual to need to add oil to the hydros during the break-in period. Just like user Duckman suggested, top 'er up and then keep an eye on the reservoirs to make certain you don't have a leak around the filter.

It's interesting to see that the B&S engine needs an initial oil change after only 5 hours. On the other hand, the user manual states 100 hours for the Kohler. :confused2:

Here's what I did. I followed my manual on specs and used my favorite brand (Penz). You can spend a huge amount of time reading...and reading more "opinions" from folks that may or may not know a whole lot about oil. It's the interweb.

I think there is a good consensus on changing your oil at least what is recommended and maybe a bit sooner (what I do) AND using a name brand quality oil.

I know we are talking about oil here, cleaning or replacing that air filter is going to be equally just as important if not more important than oil.

Just my two cents worth...

Mike
