Hi, I have a 22inch self propelled walking mower , Craftsman . This is my 10th summer using it. I noticed the last few weeks that when I first start it , the mower is very noisy, almost doesn't sound good, but after 15 minutes it runs fine, for a mower this age. What can I do to improve it's condition so it will last a few more years ? I change the air filter, the oil and I spray this carb cleaner in the carbeurator every spring before the first cut of the season. I live in upstate NY and I mow once a week, takes me a little less then an hour. Thanks for everyone's help in advance.

Hmmmm. might try using 1 grade thicker of oil, 'sounds' like you have some worn internals that quiet down when the heat expands them.. (Just a thought).
Try some Shell Rotella T 15W40, it's a heavy duty diesel truck oil and I've used it for 20 years in all my small engines.
When I changed my new Kohler 23 hp to it on 2nd change it quieter than it was on 10W30, you can get it in quart and gallon size at Walmart.
Well, I'd try a straight 40wt, or even just add 1 ounce of STP to your 30wt next oil change.
Multi-grades are good in that they initially remain thin enough to get everywhere fast at start up, then the molecules in it thickens the oil as it heats up.
