my 14 hp kohler smokes terribly when run with crankcase full of oil

does any body know why my motor sucks oil out of crankcase down to add mark then stops smoking till u add oil

You don't say which one you have...! but have you check the breather pipe..?

Engine Uses Excessive Amount of Oil

1. Incorrect oil viscosity/type.
2. Clogged or improperly assembled breather.
3. Breather reed broken.
4. Worn or broken piston rings.
5. Worn cylinder bore.
6. Worn valve stems/valve guides.
7. Crankcase overfilled.
8. Blown head gasket/overheated.

5. Worn cylinder bore.
6. Worn valve stems/valve guides.
7. Crankcase overfilled.

Crankcase Vacuum Test
A partial vacuum should be present in the crankcase when the engine is operating. Pressure in the crankcase (normally caused by a clogged or improperly assembled breather) can cause oil to be forced out at oil seals, gaskets, or other available spots.
