Murray vs. Poulan Pro Reliability/Quality (Push Mower)

I'm looking for a no-frills, low-maintenance high-wheel push mower. I was given a poor condition but working 22" Murray a couple of years ago which has now died and I want something similar.

I think I've narrowed down to these:

21" Poulan Pro w/ Briggs & Stratton 500e Series 140cc

22" Murray w/ Briggs & Stratton 500 series 148cc

Any opinions on whether Murray or Poulan Pro have better build quality or better reliability? Or any opinions on those two mowers in particular?

Thanks!

I personally would go with the murray. i have had no experience with poulan mowers. also its bigger and its cheaper! walmart is also good with returns too. just buy it at your local store.

Factoring in tax and gas, the Poulan is cheaper, but they're really close. It may be a wash on quality since they have a similar engine. Anyone have experience with both?

I see that Poulan one around town. It mows the weeds. My neighbor lady has the Murray, she just used it once so far in tall very wet Bermuda and weeds. Worked very well. They are the same mower these days as far as I can tell. Same manufacturer as well. The name is rented to Walmart starting this year from what I understand. I would make sure the wheels are mounted with bolts and nuts and not self tapping screws like some in the past before I bought either one.

Thank you, possum! I ordered the Murray. Should be ready for pick-up Monday.
