Hello everyone! I am a new member and have a Murray Model 425007X92 that don't start. I have had no issues until now except changing the deck belt. I'm not a tech person on lawn mowers as well as computers but do have a meter and know how to measure voltage. The battery is measuring 12.45 volts and solenoid on battery side 12.44 but 0 volts on the right pole on the starter side. Yet, I have been told the solenoid is working after taking it off and bringing it to lawn mower techs. The 15 amp fuse is good but the fuse clips is showing 12.4 volts on the left clip but nothing on the right clip. I hot wired to the starter form the battery and it does turn. I do not know how to measure voltage on the on the ignition switch because it's hard to get to and i'm not sure how to take it apart. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Manuals - Service - Support - Murray Post all engine numbers, example for B&S engine: model xxxxxx, type xxxx, trim xx. If your engine is B&S try rotating top of engine with both hands clockwise just past hard spot & try cranking with key, if it starts you need to adjust valves per mfg. specs.

Check for voltage on the small wire(s) on the solenoid when the key is turned to start.

If 2 small wires on the solenoid, meter test leads there. If only 1 small wire on solenoid, one test lead there and the second meter test lead on the solenoid mounting bolt or any other ground to complete the circuit. That low amperage circuit must be complete in order to energize the high amp. contacts within the solenoid. That solenoid is acting as a remote high amperage switch when operating correctly.

Please explain "hard spot" before I try this> Thank you so much.

Well, Good news. I found my problem. The ground wire to the battery was the culprit. It wasn't making contact to the battery. I thought I had checked this out previously. I guess it was wrong to assume.
