My Murray 42571x1a riding mower shuts off when I let the blades down. It originally shut off when I took my foot off the brakes. Took to repair shop and they bi- passed that safety switch. Used for one cut with no problem. Now it starts fine but stops when I engage the blades. What is the solution.
First, find a new repair shop fast. It is illegal for them to bypass any safety switches, as well as stupid. If the engines stops when the blades engage the by pass is junk or the seat safety switch is bad or dirty. If the unit is new enough, it could also be a bad or dirty reverse safety switch. Get thee to a new good mechanic, this should not be a big deal for an experienced tech.
