Hey every one,
getting really frustrated with this mower. i dont have a batter for it so ive been jumping straight from the battery to my truck to the wires. Then i tried having it black to ground wire, and red to straight to starter at 1st it would turn over a bit and then get realll tight again, So i pulled my starter thinkin it was bad hooked it up to a battery and it spins like its new, the only other theory that i havent tried is that it may not be grounding correctly. it ran fine 3 weeks ago when it had a battery, i left it outside but covered. opinions please?:confused3::mur::anyone:

More info required.

What engine?
Is it stopping when it gets to compression? Have you tried the valve clearances?
Have you tried a new starter?
Has it hydrauliced with too much oil or maybe fuel getting into the cylinder from a faulty carb needle and seat?
Is it as simple as a very bad earth?
Also on a tractor you dont want your truck engine running when you start your mower as the extra amps from the trucks alternator can fry the tractors electrics!

I think ive found my problem, i put a braker bar on my flywheel took put the sparp plugs adn sprayed som wd 40 in there and it reallly loosened up, its fairly easy to turn by hand but the starter isn cable of doing it, and the starter just kicks up and doesnt go back down,

could this really be the cause? i have no battery so i tried to jump it again to the wires and turn a key, just a click from the solenoid, i checked the fuses too, they're fine.
