I would check the brake lever on the side of the tranny to see if it is sticking. Just takes a slight nudge to break it free, but will restick when you push the brake pedal down to start. I have had luck sometimes with spraying with penetrating oil, and on others I have had to take the brake apart, and clean the rust off the two pins under the brake lever.
