Hello,
I have a MTD(Yard Machine) 38" deck. When I changed the spindle I accidentally removed the tension spring (#23). I cannot, for the life of me, figure out where it hooks back up. Looking at the parts list, it shows the spring going from the post to the screw under thew brake puck. If that were the case, it wouldn't do a thing. Does the spring connect to the post and then to the rod (#32)? That would, at least, pull the brake puck more firmly into the pulley, making the brake work better. All I can find from MTD is this parts breakdown and the shop manual, which only shows the 42" deck. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. The model number of my tractor is: 13AC762F020.
