My craftsman lawn tractor will only run with choke on,when I put it the run position it will not run

I would remove the carb and have it cleaned and rebuilt.

If you can't do the work yourself, you should take it to a repair shop and have it cleaned or maybe rebuilt. It you do it yourself there are Utube videos that are very helpful for the person with limited know how. Don't just take it apart, because you have to set the jets and fine tune it after its put back together. Make sure after its repaired that you change the fuel filter and check the gas tank for dirt/crud on the inside. Good Luck and I hope this helps
