I have a craftsman mower with a Model #143986700 - 6.75hp Craftsman Engine. It starts for a few seconds then quits, i spray a little carb cleaner while its running and it will keep running. I cleaned the carb and it still has this problem.
Not my mower in pic but looks just like it.
thanks for your help...

Did you take the Carb apart fully and cleaned out all ports and/or needle valve if it has a float?
also did you use starter fluid to get it to kick over or just primed it ?

definitely sounds like a fuel mixture/carb problem
does it have a manual or automatic choke?
