I was in the process of attempting to fit a new deck drive belt to my ride on. Of course stupidly as it now turn out, turning the mower on its side to access the belts is obviously not a good idea.
As I ended up with a fair bit of oil coming out of the Air Cleaner box (Briggs Stratton 12.5HP) and onto my driveway. I flipped the mower back over and cleaned up the mess, needless to say when i turn the key now it does nothing......
I dont want to press the issue and seize my engine, so any guidance on how to get this engine up and running again would be great....just hoping i havent done any lasting damage.....

Ok relax you did not break it.
1. Check oil level and fill back up. Oil could have gas in it. If it does drain and replace oil.
2. Remove spark plugs.
3. Remove carb and clean with cab cleaner. You have to remove bowl to clean.
4. Turn engine over by hand till all oil is gone from cylinder.
5. Put cleaned carb back on
6. Put new not old plugs in.
7. Start mower.
Thanks BlazNT,
Good to know, Ive included a picture of the engine fitted to my castel, if you an give me a quick run down on where to find the Carb, to give it a clean.
Bit of a novice at this, usually just change oil, plug and go......

Thanks for that, after an initial puzzle about where to find the carb, the bowl is now removed and cleaned, just wondering how to turn the engine by hand as I have no pull cord with this rather an electric starter....?

You can use the electric start just make sure you have the oil replaced or refilled and do short spins. 5 or so should clear the oil but look in spark plug hole to make sure.

Forgot to say you turn the engine over by hand by turning the screen on top of engine.
