Hi Guys,

I have a Troy Built 725 EX Series 21" self propelled mower. It's a 190 CC engine. BBSXS, 1901VP, 380623. Its 4 years old and I accidently left it in the rain last week. I started it and it ran for about 5 minutes, stuttered and died. I have been unable to get it started. I drained the gas tank and fuel bowl put fresh gas and a new plug in it and it still won't start. I have spark and the compression is at 60PSI. If I spray starter fluid in the carb it will start and immediately stall.

I cleaned the screw out in the bottom of the carb bowl and the holes seemed clear except for the center hole which I couldn't see go through to the bottom 2 adjoining holes. My thought is that the carb is the issue but I'm not sure.

What are your thoughts? Thanks

Dave

Sounds like a carb issue for sure. We will need the correct engine model number to figure out which carb you have. It will actually say model, type, and code next to the numbers. The number you listed is the EPA number and doesn't mean anything to the techs.

Where would they be located? I've found all kind of numbers.

Possible locations are above the spark plug, on the housing above the muffler on the blower housing, stamped into the OHV cover, and some of the newer engines is on a plate next to the carb

I figured out the number and was able to buy the carb local to me. I will let everyone know when I install it tonight. Thanks everyone.
