Mower keeps breaking belt

I've had my Simplicity Regent 42" mower for about 7 years. The original belt lasted about 5 years, and I have replaced it 4-5 times in the last two years.

The first time I replaced it I installed a OEM belt, hoping it would last 5 years like the first one but it only lasted a couple months. Since then I've been replacing it with off the auto parts store shelf belts.

The blades seem to spin fine, and the belts are not work out, they just break, or get cut, I'm not sure.

Any ideas what to look for?

does it make a screeching noise before breaking or shredding?
If so, then I suggest replacing the bearings inside the deck spindles (mandrel).

Good advice:thumbsup:
Go Kevlar, which the original may have been....I am guessing here...
The Kevlars are expensive, but this is not the best indicator of quality..

Kevlar is great, but from my experience once those bearings lock up that belt won't stand a chance.
Ensure that the belt guides have enough clearance as well.
