I replaced my blade belt and blades yesterday. Got ready to finish up the yard today and the dang short drive belt came off the tensioning pulley. Put it on and when I press the gas pedal it was hard to press and if I forced it down the belt kept popping off the tensioning pulley. Replaced it and now I still have the same issue. When I push the gas pedal down the long belt gets extremely tight on one side from the speed pulley to the idler pulleys like it is binding it up. I have tried all day to fix this and I finally gave up and walked away. This is on a 2010 troybilt 42" bronco. Anyone have any idea what I'm missing? I replaced the drive belt thinking it was just loose. If I disconnect the idler pulleys the throttle works properly just without and kinda tension. I'm far from a mower mechanic. I'm not mechanically inclined I can rebuild anything in two wheels but this has got me stumped.

My 2005 Bronco used to have the same problem and I had it fixed under warranty. It was a design problem and the solution was to install a bracket belt guard on the tension pulley.
